Abstract

The text proposes an analysis of the bankruptcy of the American automobile producers. It develops also a point of view about the origins of their difficulties. It recalls their trajectory since the beginning of the seventies. It shows the interactions between the new type of capitalism which appeared in the United States, the distribution of the national income more inegualitarian and the successive strategies adopted by General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.
